        Purchase a USB SIM card reader from an electronics store or online vendor. Ensure that the card reader includes a software disc.

        Remove the SIM card from your cell phone. The card is located in your phone's battery compartment. Disconnect the battery cover and battery, then slide the SIM card from its slot.

        Insert the SIM card into the card reader according to the user manual that came with your reader. Plug the reader into an available USB port on your computer.

        Insert the card reader's software disc into your disc drive. The installer should open automatically. If not, open it by double-clicking "My Computer," then double-clicking on your disc drive. Follow the on-screen prompts until the software is installed.

        Remove the USB SIM card reader from the USB port. Restart your computer. The USB SIM card reader must be removed, or else Windows may attempt to boot from the reader.

        Insert the USB SIM card reader again after Windows boots completely. Launch the card reader software by clicking "Start" and "All Programs," then clicking on the name of the card reader.
